Rain, rain, go away, come again another day,

We have had 3 weeks of solid rain here in Sydney ranging from a light drizzle to a full on down pour every day. I'm not a huge fan of continual rain. I get that we need it, the plants and green stuff that provides our oxygen particularly so. And I am thankful that that has been pretty much our entire winter this year but I'm hanging out for some sunshine.

With all the rain nothing has time to dry out completely I have been burning candles  like crazy to stop the house smelling damp, also the heater has been going on full the whole time we are home, not looking forward to seeing the next power bill, I think I might have a heart attack.

But I have taken the opportunity to catch up on my reading, delving into the archives of two of my favourite design focus blogs, and discovering a new one, I'm not as enamoured of their style as I am with the other two but their blow by blow account of all things renovation (they're now onto house number two) and DYI is fascinating.

And another win for hubs, I have been very appreciative of the extra faux fur throw he insisted we pick up, I wasn't 100% sold on the idea at the time, but it has been very snugly in the rotten weather and I have been able to move the smaller one to the bedroom, double the snuggles, all the more places to catch up on my favourite mags.

How about you? Any tips for dealing with inclement weather? Or are you one of these crazy people that like cold and rain?

PS. There are huge giveaways in Real Living this month, well worth checking out if that sort of thing takes your fancy.

Room Redo

I don't have issues admitting when I was wrong but it's not usual for the hubs to be right and me to be wrong when it comes to updates around the house.

So here it goes, there were too many cushions on the couch. My darling other half did suggest as much when I pick up a few more a couple of weeks ago but I was too in love with them to really look objectively.

In reality we normally would just chuck a few off when we settled in for the evening and the idea began to grow to lose a couple.

The chosen ones have been relocated to the bedroom along with the smaller of our two faux fur blankets. The cushions which worked best for this ol switcharoo were two of the older ones, one of which had a dodgy zipper which wasn't copping with being on the couch and kept on bursting.

With out further ado the updated bedroom…

The earthy tones on the rug and cushions tie in with all the wooden furniture in the room and in the long run will work better with the overall theme for the house which is slowly percolating in the back of my brain. I would love nothing more that all white bohemianish, beachyish theme but hubs would prefer a darker more traditional hunting den kind of feel,  I guess my mission is to try and get both ideas to work together cohesively, so stay tuned for more trial and error in the home department.

Progress Update

I got very excited a few weeks go about the idea that we were actually making progress in council.
Unfortunately it turns  out that I was being delusional.

Gotta love a pop up

I have found myself with a few hours to spare in Paddington over the last few weeks. Normally I would just stroll over to Paddington Markets but on one of the weekends I wandered the streets and  laneways instead, this can be an expensive exercise so my c/card (and hubby) were in luck when I came across the Cash Palace Emporium pop up.

So many colours, so many patterns, so many choices, it was love at first sight,
